Dr Wong is the Dean of Arts and the Major Coordinator of the BA Programme in Language and Communication at Centennial College. He has extensive teaching experience at the tertiary level and has published a number of articles in international refereed journals, as well as local and overseas newspapers relating to second language teaching and post-secondary education in Hong Kong. He has recently co-edited (with Aditi Dubey-Jhaveri) a book titled 'English Language Education in a Global World: Practices, Issue and Challenges' (NOVA Science Publishers, ISBN: 978-1-63483-497-1).

From 2009 to 2011, Dr Wong was a Co-Project leader of a government-funded project, which received a grant of HK$1.68 million to develop a self-access academic reading and listening package for community college students in Hong Kong.

Dr Wong was a recipient of the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship in 2001 and received the Outstanding Teacher Award from HKU SPACE Community College in 2006. He is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Innovative Interdisciplinary Research and has served as an external reviewer for Hong Kong Teachers' Centre Journal and two scholarly books. From 2012 to present, Dr Wong has served as an Honorary Professor in the Australia Asia Research and Education Foundation.
