CEO Stratagem: Starting a Business in an Oligopoly Market
The umbrella brand “759 Store” is quite a legend in Hong Kong. Back in 2010, this three-digit number carried no special meaning. However in less than 5 years, "759 Store" expanded from a small truck shop selling a limited collection of snacks in a local shopping mall to a retail chain of around 250 outlets offering over 30,000 products. The stories of Mr. Lam and his 759 Store captured more and more of the public’s attention.
What are the definitions of "boss" and "entrepreneurship" in Mr. Lam’s eyes? What is the company’s positioning? What unique pricing strategy has 759 adopted? And what challenges was the company facing?
