First Year Symposium 2017-18
Centennial College organised a “First Year Symposium” for students in their first year of study at the College, which was held on 8 December 2017 on the campus. This symposium, which is set to become an annual event, aims to enable students to acquire a better understanding of the spirit of a liberal arts education. In attendance were Professor William K.M. Lee, President of Centennial College and Professor Chan Wing Wah, Vice-President (Academic) of Centennial College, members of the Board of Governors and College Council, teachers and students.
Centennial College makes every effort to provide students with a variety of educational experiences and opportunities to help them become caring, competent and responsible citizens. This year, the theme of the symposium was environmental and ethical issues. The Symposium required students to give a presentation in a setting resembling that of a professional conference: Oral Presentations and Poster Presentations (Academic Posters).
At the end of the Symposium, guests, teachers and students voted for the “Best Poster Award” and “Best Presenting Team Award”. There was a lively atmosphere as students exchanged their views on a range of environmental and ethical issues. This academic event was rounded off with a delicious lunch.
